Richard Jones is active as a performer on screen and stage, as a writer, composer, and sound designer. He was most recently seen as Dr Kelekian in the Alumnae Theatre production of “Wit”. Last summer he appeared in the Toronto Fringe Festival in “Giants Without Footprints” in a variety of roles including |
insane uncle Leroy and an Imp. Jones has appeared in many indie shorts over the past years. He was seen at the Canadian Filmmakers Festival, World Comedy Film Festival, and Ion Film Festival in the role of the ever-resourceful Harold Smith in “Everyday Regular Things”, and his performance as NASA CEO Mr Blackwell in “Man on the Moon” was screened at the Cannes Film Festival. festival-goers across Canada and the US will recognize him as Father Maynard in the irreverent “Zombie Jesus”. His performance as the title-roled choreographer in the mockumentary “The Complete Works of Percival T Vanderhaege” was broadcast on TMN, and he can also be seen on The Comedy Network and Movieola in various other shorts. As a playwright, he has written and produced the musicals “Millennium Madness Sale” (Toronto Fringe 1999) and “Wild Moose Chase” (Alumnae Theatre 1996) as well as the performance piece “The Meeting” (New Ideas Festival, Alumnae Theatre 2004), and has participated in the creation of many new theatre works. His music has been featured in the short films “Hell Is Not Batavia”, and “The Princess and the Blacksmith”. He has worked as a sound designer for the Alumnae Theatre’s productions of “Lady Windermere’s Fan”, “Pride and Prejudice”, and the premiere of “Daughter of the House”. Jones is a graduate of the York University dance program. He can be scene dancing on film along with Antonio Banderas, Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, and through the magic of FX, in a duet with Gene Kelly. |
